Profile
I was born 1972 in Freiburg im Breisgau and studied History and German Literature in Freiburg and Cologne. In 2001 I made my PhD in Cologne and was lecturer (wissenschaftlicher Assistent) from 2001 to 2009 at the University of Rostock. Since 2010 I am Professor of Early Modern History at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
As undergraduate and as PhD student I was scholar of the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes), in 2005/06 I was Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Humboldt Foundation at the Queen Mary, University of London, in 2007/08 I was Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study (Kulturwissenschaftliches Kolleg) at the Center of Excellence (EXC 16) at the University of Konstanz, funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft). In 2010 I received a Heisenberg Scholarship by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).

Fields of Interest
Cultural patterns of politics in the early modern period, in particular concepts of legitimacy of rule and power, political discourse and political practice, particularly at early modern courts
