For the summer term 2015 Echi Christina Gabbert is Hiob Ludolf Professor at the Hiob Ludolf Centre for Ethiopian Studies, Hamburg University, Asia-African Sciences, with the support of the Deutsch Äthiopische Stiftung. The Hiob Ludolf Guest Professorship is dedicated to Current Issues in Ethiopian and Eritrean Studies that brings established and emerging scholars of the Horn of Africa to the University of Hamburg in order to complete the classical curriculum by offering courses in modern ethnological, social and political developments in North Eastern Africa.
