Profile
Xiaoqian Liu received her Ph.D. in Anthropology (2013) and MSc. in Anthropology and Development (2007) in the Anthropology Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Before coming to the U.K., she received her BSc. in Economics at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. In the years of her intellectual transition from economics to anthropology, Liu conducted wide ranging development project and research consultancies for various international donor agencies and taught the course Social Anthropology to undergraduates. Liu is now committed to exploring the ethnographic fieldwork approach with relevance to advancing the anthropological theories of transitional states, nationalism, bureaucracy and social welfare.
