Dr. Kirsten Endres Appointed Distinguished Affiliated Professor

Dr. Kirsten Endres, Research Group Leader in the Department ‘Resilience and Transformation in Eurasia’ at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, has been appointed as a distinguished affiliated professor (apl. Prof.) at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in recognition of her accomplishments in research and teaching at the university.

Endres completed her post-doctoral Habilitation thesis in the department of anthropology at MLU in 2010. The book, entitled Performing the Divine: Mediums, Markets and Modernity in Urban Vietnam, examines ritual possession in Vietnam in the context of market reform. Endres has taught in the Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology as a lecturer  since 2010.

Endres is also the head of the research group “Electric Statemaking in the Greater Mekong Subregion” at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology.
