The Research School is designed as an interdisciplinary research network connecting four Max Planck Institutes and two universities. The contributing partners include the following: the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History, Frankfurt/Main; the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle/Saale. The cooperating universities are the Albert-Ludwigs-University, in Freiburg i.Br. and the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
