Subsidiary Protection for Armed Conflicts

Mark Niklas Cuno examines subsidiary protection under asylum law for individuals fleeing armed conflicts. Subsidiary protection is granted to people who do not meet the requirements for refugee status, but are nonetheless in need of protection. Such a need for protection may arise from the dangers of conflict and war. The research focuses on the selection of criteria to be used to grant or deny this protection in Germany and the challenges this selection poses for the courts.
