Profile

Jagat Sohail studied sociology at the Delhi School of Economics, New Delhi, after which he obtained his PhD in Anthropology from Princeton University, USA, for which he wrote a thesis entitled “Afterlives of Welcome: Encounter, Contact, and Refugee Incorporation in Berlin”. Prior to starting his postdoctoral fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, he spent a little over a year as a visiting fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity. His work has been published in Ethos, Migration Politics, as well as in public outlets such as The Wire, boasblogs and Seminar Magazine.
