work on EU funded literacy project. Part of team responsible for designing and implementing secondary analysis of International Adult Literacy Survey.

(January to December) co-director of Eurostat funded research project into small area estimation (undertaken jointly by ONS, Statistics Finland and associated university departments)

2000 - 2002
Four months anthropological fieldwork for MPI Halle on postsocialist property relations in rural Russia.

2001 - 2003
Originator and Coordinator of EURAREA, an EU-funded Fifth Framework research project involving academics and national statistical institutes in seven European countries.

2004 - 2008
Originator and Coordinator of KASS (Kinship and Social Security), an EU-funded Sixth Framework Project involving fieldwork  and historical research in eight European countries

Teaching experience

Training junior research colleagues at OPCS and ONS.
