On the invitation of the Czech Association of Social Anthropology (CASA), Christoph Brumann held this year's Ladislav Holý Lecture in Prague on 12 December. As his contribution to the annual lecture series commemorating the renowned Czech anthropologist, Brumann spoke on "The Heritage Games: North against South in the UNESCO World Heritage Arena". He argued that while this transnational setting has seen increasing assertiveness of non-Euroamerican states in recent years, the new players content themselves with serving their individual interests and do not press for fundamental reforms, at least for the time being. As a result and despite the global commitments of this prominent arena, Eurocentric bias continues to be present in its decisions and among the contributing actors.
