December 13, 2016

Petra Burai (Department ‘Law & Anthropology’) has received the Pro Dissertatione Iuridica Excellentissima Award from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Legal Studies.

Petra Burai received the award for her doctoral dissertation Facing and Overcoming the Limitations of Anti-corruption Legislation. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Legal Studies founded the Pro Dissertatione Iuridica Excellentissima Award in 2014 and announces it every second year. The award is granted to legal dissertations on the basis of their originality, coherence of findings, and academic and social importance. In 2016 two doctoral theses received the award.

Burai completed her dissertation while she was a doctoral fellow in the Department ‘Law & Anthropology’. She received her PhD degree (summa cum laude) from the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. Burai’s research examines the impact and limitations of anti-corruption regulations at the international, national and personal levels, as well as their influence on the implementation of human rights.

Burai will give a lecture about her research and findings at an awards ceremony to be held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Legal Studies early next year.
