Funding Free Debt Advice in South Africa: Learning from 3 Countries

On 15 April 2021, Marek Mikuš participated in an online event entitled "Funding Free Debt Advice in South Africa: Learning from 3 Countries" organized by the South African human rights organization Black Sash. The event was focused a presentation and discussion of a policy-oriented working paper authored by Prof. Deborah James (LSE) with contributions from several collaborators including Marek. The goal of the paper is to outline models of debt advice funding in use in South Africa, compare these with examples from elsewhere, and make proposals for a more inclusive provision of debt advice in South Africa. Marek contributed observations on the provision of debt advice in Croatia and, in the discussion, he also offered some ideas on challenges in establishing more inclusive debt advice systems in general."
