Profile
Jing Jing Liu’s research examines Africa-China engagements through the everyday lives of Nigerian and Chinese traders. At the nexus of migration, markets, and money, her work investigates interconnected development histories, global hierarchies, and cultural and financial hegemonies. Liu is currently developing research projects that explore the political economy of plural money Nigeria and education migration of Nigerian youths to destinations in the Global South.

Liu studied anthropology and biochemistry at the University of Toronto, Canada, and received a MSc in health, community and development from the London School of Economics, UK, and a PhD in social-cultural anthropology from the University of Toronto, Canada.
