On 27th November, Chris Hann gave the “2012 Stirling Lecture” at the University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom. Titled “The Turkish Nation-State and the Chimera of Modernity”, the lecture addressed recent changes in Turkey in the light of Paul Stirling’s analyses of the Kemalist era, which may now be over. Particular reference is made to ethnicity, economics, religion and “social cognition”.
