Research School on Retaliation, Mediation and Punishment (REMEP)

International Max Planck Research School on Retaliation, Mediation and Punishment (REMEP)

The Research School is designed as an interdisciplinary research network connecting four Max Planck Institutes and two universities. The contributing partners include the following:

Bertram Turner was the coordinator and tutor of the Halle group from 2008 to 2013.

A first result of the interdisciplinary cooperation is the following edited volume on 'Retaliation':

Günther Schlee & Bertram Turner eds. (2008) Vergeltung. Eine interdisziplinäre Betrachtung der Rechtfertigung und Regulation von Gewalt. Frankfurt/M.: Campus

In 2017 was published: On retaliation: toward an interdisciplinary understanding of a basic human condition. The volume reflects on and unpacks basic assumptions about the concept of retaliation, which is one of the three constitutive concepts comprising the research agenda of the IMPRS REMEP. In 2018 a paperback edition was published.
