REALEURASIA project team invited to Manchester

In her new blog posting, Lale Yalçın-Heckmann gives an account of a conference on “The Quest for the Good Life in Precarious Times: grassroots perspectives on value in the 21st century” in Manchester and provides insights into the city’s distinctive capitalist history.

At the end of March 2015, Chris Gregory and Karen Sykes convened a large international conference at the University of Manchester to mark the conclusion of their investigations of “Domestic Moral Economy” in Asia and the Pacific. Teams from around Europe researching related themes participated, including Halle’s “Realising Eurasia” group. In her blog, project Coordinator Lale Yalçın-Heckmann supplements her account of the academic meeting with insights into Manchester's unique niche in the history of capitalism.
