Distinguished Lecture by Wolfgang Reinhard

On 13 November 2019 the historian Wolfgang Reinhard gave the opening talk at the Autumn School of the “International Max Planck Research School for the Anthropology, Archaeology and History of Eurasia” (IMPRS ANARCHIE). In his Distinguished Lecture entitled “The Representation of Power and the Power of Representation”, Wolfgang Reinhard demonstrated the significance of these concepts in political rituals with examples ranging from the British monarchy, the papacy and Roman Christendom, to the Chinese Empire.
